Calvary Lakewood. A beacon of faith nestled in the heart of Lakewood, Colorado. A place where lives are transformed and hearts are renewed. Foothills Calvary, also known as Calvary Lakewood, is led by Pastor Scott Morrison. It’s part of a larger family of Calvary Chapels, a legacy that began humbly in the late 1960s with Chuck Smith and a small congregation of 25 in Costa Mesa, California. This story, however, starts with a man named Ed. In 1991, a lost and broken Ed found himself at a midweek service at Calvary Downey in California. He listened to Pastor Jeff Johnson’s message. That night, Ed accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He spent the next eight years growing and serving at Calvary Downey. Then, in 1999, feeling a divine call, Ed and his family moved to Denver. Their mission was to plant a new Calvary Chapel. By December 1999, Calvary Church held its first Sunday service in Aurora, at Columbia Middle School. For seven years, they thrived in this humble space. They witnessed salvations, the formation of new families, and countless blessed memories. By 2006, the dream of a dedicated building took root. Land was purchased, prayers were offered. In 2007, Calvary Church completed construction on their current location, further expanding it in 2010. But their vision didn’t stop there. In December 2010, GraceFM was born. This radio station, broadcasting 24/7 worship and bible study, now reaches nearly 80% of Colorado’s population. Calvary Church also launched the Refresh Conference, designed to uplift and encourage ministry servants in the region. Today, Calvary Lakewood, under Pastor Scott Morrison’s leadership, continues to grow and expand its ministry. It offers numerous care ministries and resources, not only to the local community but to the wider Church body. These include a School of Ministry, the Abounding Grace Radio Program, Calvary LIVE, and Regional Pastor’s & Pastors Wives Gatherings. Looking towards the future, Calvary Lakewood has its sights set on acquiring more land to expand its ministry. They also hope to broaden GraceFM’s reach to more mountain towns and southern Colorado. They are even praying about expanding their mission work internationally.
