In 1964 a new chapter began. Calvary Baptist Church opened its doors in Accra. It started humbly. It was initially known as the English-speaking Baptist Church of Accra. Missionaries from the United States of America South Baptist Convention played a key role in its establishment.

Calvary Baptist Church isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to faith. It’s a story of growth and expansion. The church’s early years saw the leadership of Rev Alfred Stevenson. He oversaw a period of rapid growth and recognition both in Ghana and internationally. The church’s worship programs evolved. Evangelism efforts expanded. New activities attracted people from various backgrounds. Many found a spiritual home within its walls.

Rev Fred Deegbe continued this legacy. Under his leadership the church flourished. New branches sprouted up in different areas. Akoto Lante Adenta Nsawan Teshie Awoshie and Nungua all hosted Calvary Baptist Church services. Some of these branches eventually became independent churches. The church in Adabraka became a central hub. It now offers services in various languages. Ga Ewe Akan and International services cater to a diverse congregation. Youth and teen services are also offered. Auxiliary ministries such as the Golden Agers Ministry and the Hospitality Ministry were created. This reflects the church’s dedication to meeting the needs of its growing community.

The church also embarked on significant projects. The Adabraka building expanded. Land was acquired for the Shiashie campus. The Calvary Baptist Credit Union was established. The Calvary Leadership Institute (CLI) was founded. Some of these initiatives have become independent entities demonstrating the church’s impact and reach. Calvary Baptist Church now operates as one unit with five campuses. These include Adabraka Shiashie Bortianor Amasaman and Oyibi.

Today Calvary Baptist Church stands as a beacon of faith. It’s a place of worship and community. It continues to grow and evolve. It reflects the enduring spirit of its founders and the commitment of its members. It’s a living legacy a testament to the power of faith and community. It’s a significant part of Accra’s religious landscape. Its story continues to unfold.
