Founded in 1926 Calvary Missionary Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and perseverance. Rev Charlie H Miles Sr led the church for 39 years. He was a vital supporter of young ministers. He bought the land for the original church building at 109 E 40 1/2 Street in 1934. Two more buildings were added later. Calvary became part of the Independent Baptist Association. Pastor Miles served faithfully until his passing in 1965.

After Pastor Miles several pastors guided Calvary. They continued serving God and the community. Rev IC Green Sr and Jr Rev Lonnie Hurd Sr Rev O L Holliday Rev Tommie L Mims and Rev Alex Morrison served during this period.

Since 1991 Rev Shannon T Oliver has led Calvary. He’s a passionate preacher and teacher. He strengthened the church leadership and membership. Under his guidance Calvary has grown. It’s not just about numbers. It’s about loyalty to Christ’s teachings. Pastor Oliver emphasizes community outreach. He believes God’s work extends beyond the church walls.
