Has anyone ever seen a horse made of pure steel, towering over seven meters tall? Right here in Titan Park, Bucharest, stands the magnificent Calul Titanilor (Horse of the Titans) installation. It’s a monumental artwork, the largest equestrian statue in Romania. Calul Titanilor is the creation of Misha Diaconu, a young and exceptionally talented sculptor. She dedicated two years of her life, meticulously shaping over 1,600 kilograms of iron using the repoussage technique. This involves hammering the metal from the reverse side to create the desired form, resulting in the powerful, dynamic figure we see today. Diaconu’s vision for Calul Titanilor was one of monumental strength, a vertical composition designed to emphasize the horse’s impressive height. It first graced Titan Park as part of the “Sculpture of the 3rd Millennium – Eco-Music-Art” creative camp in August 2013. Initially intended as a temporary exhibit, the Calul Titanilor, along with other sculptures created during the camp, became a permanent fixture in the park. This means that Misha Diaconu’s horse will continue to inspire awe in visitors for years to come. Calul Titanilor is a symbol of artistic innovation and dedication, a testament to the power of human creativity to transform raw materials into breathtaking works of art. Its presence in Titan Park offers a unique opportunity to contemplate the intersection of nature, art, and human ambition.
