The calmness here at Cala Es Cuco is almost unnerving. The only sounds are the lapping of the water and a few seagulls squawking overhead. This little cove is often overlooked by tourists, nestled away at the end of Porroig bay, but those who do find it are rewarded with a tranquility few other beaches on Ibiza can offer. For centuries, this cove was known only to local fishermen and their families. They would launch their small boats from the rocky shore and make their living from the abundant fish in the surrounding waters. Today, the boats still come, as do the locals, but the number of tourists has begun to increase. For that reason, it is easier to find a place to lay down a towel and take a nap on its smooth, white pebbles than on busier beaches. There is a slight slope of pebbles leading to the sand, which starts just a few meters in the water, creating a striking contrast of colors that makes the water seem almost unreal. The water here is turquoise and crystal clear. From this beautiful cove, you can spot the high cliffs that rise up behind you, offering stunning views of the coastline.
