Cala Codolar isn’t easily found. A bumpy dirt track leads down. This is why it remains relatively untouched. You’ll need a sturdy car to reach it. There are only a few parking spaces near the beach itself. But a larger official parking zone sits atop the cliffs. A short five-minute walk brings you to the sand.
The beach itself is around 70 meters long and 40 meters wide. It’s a mixture of soft sand and smooth pebbles. These pebbles or codols in Catalan give the beach its name. The water’s edge is especially pebbly. You might want water shoes. The middle of the beach offers an easier entry into the water. Fewer stones mean less chance of a stumble. Once you’re a short distance out the seabed is pure sand. This makes the water crystal clear. Perfect for snorkeling.
Cala Codolar boasts a relaxed vibe. It’s a favorite spot for locals. At the end of the day the sunset is breathtaking. The beach bar offers cocktails. You can also bring your own drinks. The bar itself offers food but it is a bit pricey. They also rent sunbeds and parasols.
Remember the Instagrammable Las puertas de Cala Llentia. Two large wooden door frames stand alone. They once held beautifully carved doors. Sadly these were stolen. Nearby is the ‘Time & Space’ art installation. This is a circle of thirteen stone pillars. Also called Ibiza Henge it’s another must-see location.
