Do you hear that melody drifting on the breeze? It’s the spirit of Cafe Lohengrin, a cultural hub nestled in Hanover’s Oststadt. This cafe isn’t just a place for coffee. It is a stage for life itself.
Cafe Lohengrin has been a true local institution since 1997. Kristina Tiemeier, affectionately known as Tini, spontaneously opened it. Before that, she was a travel agent. Kristina always loved to cook and express her creativity through food.
The cafe faced a tough time after a fire in December 2018. It rose from the ashes like a phoenix. Cafe Lohengrin maintained its philosophy. Guests should feel completely comfortable, enjoying food, drinks and an open ear.
Step inside the Cafe Lohengrin. You will find space for about 50 guests. It is more than just a cafe. It’s a small cultural center. A stage sits waiting for its next performance. The Cafe Lohengrin hosts music, theater, readings and other cultural events. You can even book the space for private events.
Kristina Tiemeier fills the stage with talented friends. These friends include bands and other entertainers. She herself sometimes appears as the “singing, humming hostess.” She stars and sings in her own invented performances.
Every second Tuesday, Cafe Lohengrin hosts an Open Stage. Spontaneous performances begin at 7:30 PM. Music, theater, art, readings, comedy, slam poetry, acrobatics and other unusual acts happen here.
How about a themed breakfast? Cafe Lohengrin offers unique options. There is a Shanty breakfast with the “Störtebekers” shanty choir. You can enjoy a Buddhist or Musical breakfast. Book your choice online or by phone. Younger and older guests alike appreciate this concept. It is a place where teens and oldies can discuss together. You can even enjoy a Krimi-Dinner here.
Cafe Lohengrin serves homemade dishes with seasonal delicacies. They offer breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake and dinner. The menu changes based on the season and available ingredients. You can also create your own meal. International cuisine is offered thematically by country or continent. While the menu changes daily, Currywurst and Bouletten are always available. Can’t decide? Order a “Mischteller” mix. For example, get two half pieces of cake for the price of one.
Cafe Lohengrin also features a sunny terrace. It invites you to relax and feel good. So come relax at Cafe Lohengrin. Experience its unique charm for yourself.
