Did you know that the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute is the oldest university in the Bukhara region? It stands before us as a beacon of knowledge. Its story began in 1959.

Initially, it was the Bukhara Evening General Technical Faculty. It belonged to the Tashkent Polytechnical Institute named after Abu Rayhan Beruniy. In 1972, it became a branch of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute. This transformation was based on a decision by the Soviet Union Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education.

Finally, in 1978, it achieved independence. It became the Bukhara Institute of Food and Light Industry Technology in Central Asia. In 2013, it adopted its current name. It is now known as the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute.

Today, the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute boasts impressive numbers. There are 14773 students attending. The institute has 8 faculties and 36 departments. It offers 56 Bachelor’s programs. There are 38 Part-Time education programs. Students can also choose from 27 Master’s programs.

The Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute also offers double degree programs. There are 19 Bachelor’s and 3 Master’s programs. These are in collaboration with universities in Latvia, Malaysia, Russia, and Belarus. The institute partners with over 90 leading universities worldwide. These universities are from 20 countries.

The Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute employs 611 professionals. Among them, 37 are Doctors of Science and Professors. Another 223 are candidates of Science and Associate Professors. The institute aims to train highly qualified specialists. These specialists can address strategic tasks. These tasks arise from reforms. These reforms are in light industry, oil and gas, and modern technologies.

The main tasks of the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute are diverse. The institute provides high-quality training and retraining. It also upgrades the skills of pedagogical and specialist personnel. This is done according to international standards. The institute contributes to developing educational standards. It creates curricula and programs. The institute also develops scientific and pedagogical literature.

The Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute coordinates scientific activities. It implements spiritual-educational work. This work aims to develop well-rounded pedagogical personnel. The institute introduces modern pedagogy and technologies. These include multimedia and information and communication technologies.

The material and technical base of the institute is constantly developed.

Currently, Siddiqova Sadokat Ghaforovna is the rector. She was appointed on August 17, 2023. She ensures qualified cadre training. She promotes independent thinking and market-based business skills.

The Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute is ranked #64 in Asian University Rankings. This ranking is for Central Asia in 2025. It stands as a testament to progress and innovation.
