The Burbank Historical Museum is located within George Izay Park. You can find the main entrance on Clark Avenue. Although its mailing address is on Lomita Street.

Inside awaits a treasure trove of artifacts. They primarily showcase the Victorian era. The Burbank Historical Society runs the Gordon R. Howard Museum. It displays many various items.

This complex actually consists of two structures. The main building is named after Gordon R. Howard. He was a valued benefactor. It houses the bulk of the society’s collection. This facility spans 20000 square feet. All items have been donated except those on loan.

The Burbank Historical Society was founded in 1973. Its mission is to collect, preserve, and share Burbank’s history. The museum is owned and operated by the society. It is a non-profit organization. Volunteers run it with no paid staff.

Founder Mary Jane Strickland enlisted Gordon R. Howard’s help. Together, they built the museum facility. You can see a photo of them in the Memorabilia Room.

Admission to the Gordon R Howard Museum Complex is free. However docent-led group tours cost money. They are available by appointment only. There must be at least 10 participants. The fee is $5 per adult. Children 16 and under are free. Special school tours are also available. These tours are free for Burbank K-12 students.

The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. It is closed on Easter Christmas and New Year’s. Handicap parking is available on Clark Avenue. The main entrance is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. An elevator provides access to the second floor.

Photography and videos are allowed. But they are strictly prohibited in the Memorabilia Room. This is due to copyright reasons.
