Doseonsa Temple is worth a detour. After exploring the temple, return to the car park. From there, signs point the way to Baegundae. This is the highest of Bukhansan’s three peaks. The trail to Baegundae offers stunning views and varied terrain.
The hike can be enjoyed in any season. Winter requires preparation. Temperatures at the top can plummet far below zero. Ice spikes are essential for navigating icy conditions. Spring offers pleasant weather. Cherry blossoms add to the scenery. Summer can be sweaty. Bring plenty of water.
As you ascend, you’ll pass a police mountain rescue hut. You’ll also see the towering Insubong peak. Eventually, you’ll reach a shelter. This is a perfect spot for a break. The final push to the summit involves a steep climb to Wimun Gate.
