Browns Plains Presbyterian Church

In 1984, a small group of just 22 people dared to dream. They envisioned a place where people from all walks of life could come together, united by their faith. This dream took root, and the Browns Plains Presbyterian Church was born. Browns Plains Presbyterian Church isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the power of faith and community. Founded on the principles of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, its roots trace back to the Reformation, holding steadfast to its evangelical beliefs. The church’s story is deeply intertwined with the dedication of its first and founding elder, Jim Hopkin. Hopkin championed the church’s independence. He had the foresight to secure ten acres of land on Waller Road, envisioning the church’s future amidst what was then only bushland. His vision extended to the church’s leadership. He played a key role in appointing Danny Mihailovic, a graduating student from the Queensland Theological College, as the pastor. Mihailovic would lead the Browns Plains Presbyterian Church for the next 28 years. He was later assisted by Andre Schwartz, who eventually became the next pastor. From its humble beginnings, the Browns Plains Presbyterian Church built a home at 276 Waller Rd in Heritage Park. This building stands as a symbol of the strong spiritual foundation laid by those first 22 members. It has blossomed into a vibrant Christian community. The church continues its mission to serve God. It focuses on families, from the youngest to the oldest, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. Browns Plains Presbyterian Church embraces people of all backgrounds and experiences.
