Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Brooklyn, New York, stands the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church. It has a unique story woven with faith, perseverance, and community. In 1975, a divine call led Sister Beulah Patterson to establish a Branch Sabbath School. Her journey with the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church began in a humble basement rented from Mr. and Mrs. Harold Taylor. Initially, meetings took place on Sundays. However, at the request of Mrs. Taylor and her daughter, the gatherings shifted to Saturdays, aligning with the Seventh-day Adventist faith. The first official Sabbath meeting of the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church was held on February 14, 1976, with a modest offering of $5.46. The church’s first members were a dedicated group, including the Daniels, Williams, Smith, Blackman, Morgan, Wilson, Garvey, and Taylor families. As the congregation grew, the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church relocated to a storefront at 848 Clarkson Avenue. Financial difficulties arose, and attendance dwindled. Sister Patterson’s unwavering faith and the support of a few brethren kept the church afloat. A chance encounter between Sister Smith and Brother Robert Dwyer and his family led to a pivotal moment for the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church. Brother Dwyer’s connection with Pastor J. Milton Thomas brought renewed energy. Members of the Brooklyn Temple Church began visiting the mission, and the congregation expanded. The Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church flourished, adding souls through baptisms and dedicated service. The mission officially became a church on December 23, 1978, with 81 members. In 1979, the expanding Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church found a new home at 5518 Church Avenue. The building, initially housing six stores, was renovated into a proper church. The first service at this location was held on October 27, 1979. Under the leadership of Pastor R. Clifford Jones, the building was completed and dedicated on June 21, 1986. The Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church continued to grow, eventually giving birth to two daughter churches: Canarsie and New Dimension. Today, the Brooklyn Faith Seventh Day Adventist Church stands as a testament to faith, perseverance, and the power of community. Its journey from a humble basement to a thriving congregation showcases the enduring spirit of its members.
