On February 9 1997 a new chapter began. It started with a prayer at Fontaine First Baptist Church. This prayer marked the organizing meeting of Bread of Life Baptist Church.
Pastor J.H. Brown led the charter members. They stood united and repeated a resolution. This resolution constituted a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. The next decision was the church’s name. A motion was made and seconded. It declared the church would be named Bread of Life Baptist Church. The motion passed.
Another motion followed swiftly. It nominated Rev. Reginald Harris as Pastor. This too was seconded and carried. Rev. Harris became the presiding Pastor of Bread of Life Baptist Church. A final motion granted Rev. Harris perpetual power. He could appoint auxiliary heads of the church. This also passed. Rev. Reginald Harris was then presented to the congregation. He was their Pastor of Bread of Life Baptist Church.
From February 16 1997 the church grew. It met at Shadydale Elementary School until April 1997. Members enjoyed inspiring worship experiences. Then guided by God they moved. In April 1997 they found a new space at Leap of Faith Dance Studio. God allowed them to meet there until August 1997.
From August 1997 the Bread of Life Baptist Church kept expanding. Until June 2001 it impacted the Humble Community. It touched many lives while fellowshipping at 302 North Houston Ave in Humble Texas.
Throughout these moves the Lord blessed them. They grew spiritually emotionally and financially. God was preparing them for a place to call home. They thank glorify and magnify God’s Holy Name.
The membership has grown significantly. It now includes several hundred members. Lives are still being changed by the power of God at Bread of Life Baptist Church.
They continue to pray for God’s guidance. They trust that where God guides God provides. Bread of Life Baptist Church is a testament to faith. It shows dedication and divine provision. It is a beacon of hope in the community.
