Established in 1887 by Karl Puschmann the Brauhaus Hartmannsdorf has seen it all. Imagine the bustling activity of those early days. Karl’s ambition fueled the creation of a local favorite. The brewery thrived. It even changed names a few times. It became Bohmisch-Brauhaus GmbH in 1907. Then in 1958 it transformed into Brauerei Hartmannsdorf Hoppe & Co KG. Finally in 1972 it became VEB Brauerei Hartmannsdorf.

The Hartmannsdorfer Edelpilsner beer became particularly popular during the interwar period. Under brewmaster Oswald Berthold the brewery boomed. By 1987 they brewed 107000 hectoliters of beer. A staggering amount! That’s a lot of happy drinkers.

Unfortunately hard times followed. The brewery faced insolvency in 2003. But the spirit of Karl Puschmann lived on. In 2006 a new beginning arrived. The Brauhaus Hartmannsdorf GmbH was reborn. The brewery continues to produce many kinds of beer. These include the popular Hartmannsdorfer Pils and Hartmannsdorfer Gold. They even craft a unique brew GlühBo a Glühwein enhanced with Bockbier wort.
