Was this tiny village once the deadliest place in America? We’re in Braithwaite, Louisiana. A seemingly peaceful village on the banks of the mighty Mississippi. But don’t let the tranquility fool you. Braithwaite holds a unique and somber record. It was here, on August 30, 2012, that Hurricane Isaac claimed its first American victims. A couple tragically lost their lives when their home was overwhelmed by the storm surge. Today, Braithwaite stands as a testament to the unforgiving power of nature. It also reminds us of the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.
