Bragadiru has undergone significant changes. It was included in the V I Lenin district of Bucharest. Later it became a suburban commune. In 1981 it was assigned to Ilfov Agricultural Sector. This sector became Ilfov County in 1997. Finally Bragadiru was declared a town in 2005.
