That small circular roof remains a reminder of this unfulfilled potential.

Consider how Botildenborgs vattentorn once offered a different kind of service. In 1974 a professor used its roof to study the microclimate. Jan O Mattson measured wind and air conditions. His work contributed to a report on climate information.

In the late 1970s police sought access to Botildenborgs vattentorn. They wanted to use it for surveillance. From the tower’s height officers could observe the Rosengård area. The narcotics squad hoped to monitor criminal activity.

For years Botildenborgs vattentorn offered a festive sight. Bulltofta waterworks placed ten Christmas trees on its roof. These served as a holiday greeting. Today the trees are gone. The tower now features façade lighting.

It might have been the first mobile phone in the Water and Sewerage Works of Malmö.
