Both flights departed from this very airport on that fateful morning of September 11, 2001, bound for Los Angeles. The memorial also commemorates the airport community’s response. Inside, two glass panels are etched with the names of each victim. The departure times of the flights, 7:59 a.m. and 8:14 a.m., are also etched in the glass.
