The soaring silhouette of a hawk. That’s what first comes to mind when you see Boramae Park. Boramae Park isn’t just a park. It’s a testament to transformation. It stands on the former site of the Korea Air Force Academy. The Academy moved in 1985. The Seoul Metropolitan Government took over the land. They transformed it into the vibrant green space we see today. The name Boramae itself means baby hawk. It’s a tribute to the Academy’s emblem.

Boramae Park opened on May 5 1986. It covers a vast area. More than 413 000 square meters. Within this sprawling area lies a diverse landscape. There are playgrounds for children. There are tennis courts for the athletic. There’s even a soccer field a jogging track and badminton courts. You can even test your skills on the rock climbing wall. For a more relaxed experience there are picnic areas and community centers. A dog park opened in 2016. This is a welcome addition for pet owners. A new children’s park was also opened in June 2024. This added another layer of fun for young families.

One of the park’s unique features is the Air Park. Eight airplanes are on display. This is a fascinating tribute to the park’s history. It serves as a reminder of the Air Force Academy’s presence.
