Let’s step back in time. Imagine Boldtville as a small farming community in the 1870s. It was first known as Calaveras. Families like the Boldts and Gemblers called it home. In 1908, residents formed the Union Sunday School. The Calaveras Presbyterian Church followed in 1909. Reverend Baxter D. D. Greer led the way.

The community reached a turning point in 1919. Trustees saw the need for a new school. Albert F. Boldt donated land. Fritz Gembler built the schoolhouse. The community renamed itself Boldtville in honor of the Boldt family. The school served students from first through eighth grade. Church services were even held there.

Fast forward to 1950. Albert Boldt donated land for a church building. The Boldtville Community Presbyterian Church was formally organized on October 26, 1952. Ed and Ruby Avery’s general store was a popular gathering spot. It remained so until it closed in 1979.

The Boldtville school closed in 1960. It was later renovated as an administration complex. In 1984, the schoolhouse received a Texas Historical Marker. Former students created a museum. It honored Boldtville and other rural schools. The Boldtville School museum officially opened on January 12, 1986.

Today, Boldtville Presbyterian Church stands as a testament to faith and community. Though Boldtville is small, the church has a big heart. In 2000, the church had about one hundred members. The Boldtville Presbyterian Church is located at 6631 New Sulphur Springs Road. The church’s email is boldtvillch@att.net and their phone number is 210-648-1231.
