The Boisfeuillet Jones Center is a building on Emory University’s main campus. It’s not just a building but a tribute to a man who truly made his mark on Atlanta, Georgia. Boisfeuillet Jones, or ‘Bo’ as his friends called him, was a lawyer, educator, and philanthropist. He graduated from Emory in 1934 with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree and then returned to the university in 1946 as an Assistant Professor of Political Science, eventually becoming Vice President of the University. He left Emory to serve in the Kennedy administration, where he was appointed by President Kennedy to serve as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health and Medical Affairs of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. This was a pivotal moment in his career as it allowed him to contribute to the development of health, education, and welfare legislation.
