In 1998, BMW Italia SPA moved its headquarters to a striking building in San Donato Milanese, designed by the renowned architect Kenzo Tange. This marked a significant moment for BMW Italia SPA, transitioning from Palazzolo di Sona to this Milanese landmark. The building itself has a rich history. It’s so iconic that Gillo Dorfles dubbed it the “south gate of Milan.” Its unique design serves as a prominent gateway to the city for those arriving from the A1 highway. Originally, the building was intended solely for BMW Italia SPA. However, from 1998 to 2021, the ground floor housed BMW Milano, a sales branch of BMW Italia Retail. Later, from December 2022 to December 2024, the dealership BYmyCAR occupied the space. As of December 18, 2024, BMW Italia SPA reclaimed the entire building, restoring Kenzo Tange’s original vision. This return to its roots prompted a redesign of the entrance area. The goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment for visitors and employees, reflecting the “human-centric” spirit of the House of BMW. This shift in approach has been instrumental in BMW’s recent success in the Italian market. BMW Italia SPA has been a member of Confindustria Ancma since 2000. As the Italian subsidiary of the BMW Group, BMW Italia SPA plays a vital role in the company’s global operations. The BMW Group, with its BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands, stands as a leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles worldwide. BMW Italia SPA manages the import, export, and transit of engines, vehicles, motorcycles, parts, and accessories, further solidifying its importance within the BMW Group’s network.
