Blessed Sacrament Church is a Roman-Latin Rite parish in Charleston. It’s located at 5 Saint Theresa Drive. The church’s mission is to form a Catholic community. It welcomes all. It provides opportunities to know Christ better. People can grow in faith and love. They can give witness to the Kingdom of God.

The church supports Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. The school is next to the church. BSCS is the church’s primary educational ministry. Families from other parishes are welcome at BSCS. Non-Catholic families are welcome too.

Mass times at Blessed Sacrament Church vary. On Saturdays, there is a 5:00 p.m. vigil Mass. Sundays offer several options. During the school year, Mass is at 8:30 a.m. In the summer, it shifts to 9:00 a.m. Additional Masses are at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There is also a Spanish Mass at 1:30 p.m. Weekday Masses are Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m.

Confession times are on Saturdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is in English. Sunday confessions in Spanish are from 12:45 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Adoration is available too. The Adoration Chapel is open at varying times. It begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 7:00 p.m. Tuesdays, it starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs almost to Thursday. Thursday has two sessions. One starts Tuesday and ends at 2:00 a.m. The other is Thursday 8:30 a.m. to Friday midnight. Friday has a session from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

To receive the sacrament of Marriage here, there are criteria. Couples must meet with the priest. They need to begin preparation six months before the wedding date. They must be registered and active members for three months.

To be a “Registered and Active” member, there are requirements. You must be formally registered. Participation in parish life is needed for three months. This includes weekly attendance at Weekend Masses. Weekly envelopes must be placed in the offertory. This is even if they are empty. If you give online, turn in empty envelopes and check “I give online”. Cash contributions need to be in parish envelopes.

Interestingly, Blessed Sacrament Church warns about spam. Neither Father Arnulfo nor Bishop Fabre would ask for gift cards via email or text. They will send a letter or call for help.

The pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church is Reverend Arnulfo Jara Galvez. Several deacons serve the parish. These include Deacon James R. Moore, Deacon Kurt Herbst, and others. The Director of Youth Ministry is Chelsea Moore.

Remember to participate in the Mass. Place your weekly envelopes in the offertory each weekend. If giving online, submit empty envelopes marked accordingly.
