The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church stands tall and proud in San Antonio’s north central portion. The church’s origins date back to the summer of 1956 when Archbishop Robert E. Lucey wanted to accommodate the 405 families in the area. At that time, the church was just a chapel built in Mount Sacred Heart School, as the church grew, in 1957 a temporary church with a capacity of 400 was constructed. The church continued to expand and served the growing community. The present, beautiful structure of the church with a capacity of 800 was dedicated on July 19, 1976 by Archbishop Francis J. Furey. Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church continues to be a beacon of faith and community for those seeking solace and support in their spiritual journey. Today, the church is a thriving community that serves over 1400 families.
