The Bishi Building might appear as another structure in Shenzhen. Its true essence lies far beyond its physical form. Imagine its walls echoing tales of transformation. Shenzhen has metamorphosed from a collection of villages into a global hub. The Bishi Building has seen much of that change.
Let’s rewind time to understand the context of this impressive building. Baishizhou, the area where the Bishi Building stands, was once an amalgamation of five villages. Around 1958, these villages merged after a collective farm opened. The Shenzhen government later bought land around these villages, but not within. This led to the unique development of Baishizhou.
Even though I can’t share details about Bishi Building’s history, its location within Baishizhou speaks volumes. Baishizhou has a population of about 150,000 people. Some estimates, including unregistered residents, exceed two hundred thousand.
