“How do I get to Biserica Ortodoxă Sf. Cuv. Paraschiva Galileea Străulești?” I overheard a tourist ask just yesterday. Well let me tell you about this special place.

Biserica Ortodoxă Sf. Cuv. Paraschiva Galileea Străulești stands as a testament to faith. It also shows community spirit in Bucharest. This church has a fascinating story. It began in a humble house and evolved into a cherished place of worship.

After the devastating earthquake of 1940, a need arose. The community needed a place to gather and worship. A private house was rented for this sacred purpose. It was then properly equipped. This temporary arrangement became permanent in 1957. The parish bought the house. Parishioners contributed financially.

Vasile Botez was the first priest to serve here. He served until 1969. His dedication laid a solid foundation for the church’s future.

In 1988, Biserica Ortodoxă Sf. Cuv. Paraschiva Galileea Străulești underwent significant changes. A wooden tower was added. The building was extended by about 15 square meters. The interior was adorned with new paintings.

More recently in 2007, the serving priests and faithful supporters helped improve the church. They replaced the Holy Gospel and Holy Cross. New candlesticks, censers and a sound system were acquired. These enhancements enriched the worship experience.

Today, Biserica Ortodoxă Sf. Cuv. Paraschiva Galileea Străulești continues to be a beacon of faith. It is a testament to the enduring power of community. Also it embodies devotion and perseverance.
