The story of Biserica Ortodoxă Nașterea Maicii Domnului begins in 1997. On September 8 the foundation stone was laid. This was on the feast day of the Nativity of the Theotokos. Patriarch Teoctist himself presided over the ceremony. A large crowd of clergy and faithful attended. Construction continued from 1997 to 2003. Then from 2006 to 2009 the church was adorned with paintings. These paintings were created by Sorin Nicolae and Adrian Botea.
Many faithful donated to furnish the church. Priests Constantin and Emilian Țincu led the effort. In 2008 the church received a precious gift. It was relics of Saint Emilian of Durostorum. Metropolitan Ilarion of Silistra Bulgaria presented them. Saint Emilian is now one of the church’s patron saints.
Finally on May 17 2009 the church was consecrated. Patriarch Daniel officiated the service. Many priests and deacons joined him. The church was dedicated to the Nativity of the Theotokos. Also to Saints Constantine and Helen and Saint Emilian of Durostorum.
Biserica Ortodoxă Nașterea Maicii Domnului also has a social center. This center provides many services to the community. There is a study hall for students. Also there are medical and dental offices. Legal and psychological counseling are available too. You can even find a pharmacy with herbal remedies. A dining hall is also on site.
