This isn’t just any park. Nestled within the larger Ernest E Debs Regional Park the Audubon Center is a 17-acre haven for wildlife. For over 25 years it has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of Angelenos inspiring a love of nature. It’s a community hub less than five miles from downtown.

Imagine yourself strolling through the park. You might spot an American Kestrel a Great-horned Owl or a Northern Flicker. Yellow-rumped Warblers flit among the branches. Keep your eyes peeled for the park’s other inhabitants. Squirrels rabbits and even coyotes call Debs Park home. Remember to be respectful of the wildlife. Don’t feed the animals. Their natural diet is best.

The Center itself offers free admission. It’s open Thursday to Sunday from 8 am to 4 pm. You can borrow binoculars and field guides to enhance your exploration. The Center doesn’t sell snacks so bring your own. There are restrooms and a drinking fountain on site. Parking is free but fills up quickly. If the lot is full park along Griffin Avenue.

Be aware of poison oak near the Butterfly Loop and Hummingbird Trail. Stick to the designated paths. Be mindful of the environment. Leave no trace. Do not throw objects into the ponds. Do not disturb the native plants. Dogs are not allowed inside the Center’s area. Their scent disrupts the wildlife.
