A haven of faith. That’s Bethel Church of Christ Holiness. It stands as a testament to enduring spirituality in Los Angeles.
Bethel Church of Christ Holiness started humbly. Its first meetings took place in a private home. Robert Doherty led these intimate gatherings. They formed the foundation for a growing movement.
The church’s growth was phenomenal. It quickly outgrew its modest beginnings. Bethel moved to Magnolia Avenue then later to Bechelli Lane. Each relocation reflected its expanding congregation.
Pastors came and went each shaping the church’s identity. Reverend Vic Trimer served as pastor. M Earl and Darliene Johnson followed. Earl was the father of Bill Johnson. Ray and Rebecca Larson became pastors next. The church boomed under their leadership. Attendance reached an estimated 2000. A move to its current location on College View Road was necessary.
Bethel Church didn’t just focus on worship. It also established King’s Kids Christian School. This later became Bethel Christian School. This demonstrates the church’s commitment to educating children. The school was initially located at the Bechelli Lane site.
The church’s dedication to its community is clear. Bethel completed construction of the College View Campus. They opened the Transformation Center a place for inner healing. It offers over 11000 hours of ministry annually.
Bethel’s influence extends beyond Los Angeles. Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM) started small. It now hosts over 2000 students annually from 64 countries. Bethel TV streams services internationally reaching over 412800 users. Bethel Music has millions of monthly listeners.
