Did you know that Bethel Christian Reformed Church started with only 23 members? Gathered in the Glendale YMCA on June 7, 1931, they began a journey of faith. Home Missionary Rev. Henry De Vries guided them. The Los Angeles Christian Reformed Church consistory supervised.

In January 1932, Mr. Caspar Van Dyk arrived. He was a ministry candidate who pastored the Glendale group. Soon, a Ladies Circle formed. A Men’s Society and Sunday School were also organized. Morning and evening services became regular events. On March 28, 1932, the Glendale Christian Reformed Church officially organized. It had nine families and five individuals as charter members.

From 1936 to 1938, Mr. Walter Hekman and Mr. Christian Ter Maat served. They were both ministry candidates. During those years, services took place at the Jewel City Funeral Chapel in Glendale. Today, Bethel Christian Reformed Church stands as a welcoming church. It is in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.
