Beth El Temple Center

Journey with me back to the founding of Beth El Temple Center. Imagine those early members, envisioning a place where they could learn and live Torah. Beth El Temple Center stands as a testament to their vision. This Reform congregation, affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, has served Belmont and its surrounding communities for years. Cambridge, Watertown, Waltham, Lexington, Arlington, and Somerville are all touched by Beth El’s presence. Beth El Temple Center embraces approximately 400 memberships. It’s a vibrant community, built on a strong egalitarian tradition. Here, Jews and their families find a place to connect with their heritage and nurture their souls. Beth El Temple Center offers a place to not just learn, but to live Torah. It also offers a place to help repair the world. Did you know that Beth El Temple Center has a scholarship fund dedicated to its youth? The Donald Ponn Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Donald Ponn, supports a variety of activities. These activities help children develop their Jewish identities and connect with other Jewish children. From NFTY teen trips to Israel to Jewish summer camps, this fund invests in the future of the congregation. Beth El Temple Center also engages in social action projects. One such project is the “Welcome Blanket” project. Members stitch, knit, and crochet blankets. These blankets symbolize the warmth and welcome they extend to others. It’s a beautiful example of how Beth El Temple Center strives to repair the world, one stitch at a time.
