Deep within Denver’s historical roots lies Beth Eden Baptist Church. It is a beacon of faith established in 1893. Beth Eden has a story etched in time. It reflects a commitment to conservative doctrine and a fervent passion for the gospel.
Founded during the economic hardship of 1893 Beth Eden quickly became a pillar in western Denver. Its influence spread through youth societies and missions. It touched countless lives with the message of the gospel.
Beth Eden’s journey is marked by significant milestones. In 1930, the church dedicated a new building on Lowell Boulevard. This building stands today as a testament to the church’s enduring presence. It is recognized as a Historic Landmark by the City and County of Denver.
Dr. Sam Bradford became the pastor in 1936. He began a long and influential tenure. Under his guidance Beth Eden planted two additional churches in the Highlands area. His vision extended beyond the church walls. In 1944, he acquired Institute Park. It was later renamed Camp Eden. Today, Camp Eden continues to thrive as part of Beth Eden Baptist Church’s ministry. It is located in Coal Creek Canyon.
Dr. Earle Matteson stepped into the role of pastor in 1964. He oversaw Beth Eden Baptist Church’s relocation to its current site. Dr. Matteson spearheaded the establishment of Beth Eden Baptist School. It continues to provide quality Christian education to the Denver area.
In 1991, Dr. Jim Efaw brought a passion for missions from West Virginia. His passion further fueled Beth Eden’s commitment to spreading the gospel locally and globally. For 24 years, Dr. Efaw carried on the church’s legacy. This legacy included conservative doctrine and pastoral care. It also included a strong dedication to the gospel.
The church embarked on a new chapter in August 2015. Pastor Efaw announced his resignation. The search for a new leader led them back to their own congregation. Jason Pilchard became the Senior Pastor in October 2015. He had previously served as one of the assistant pastors.
