Founded in 1996 as the Center on Law and Technology this is the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. It stands before you a testament to innovation and foresight. A significant $15 million gift from Michael R Klein in 2016 led to the addition of his name.

Lawrence Lessig joined as the first Berkman professor. The center’s name changed in 1998. It became the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School.
