Established in 1911 by the Cooper sisters, Leila and Mabel, Berkeley Hall School first opened its doors in the historic West Adams district of Los Angeles. It was a unique institution. It was the first co-ed independent elementary school in a city where private education was largely separated by gender. The school quickly outgrew its initial location. It found a new home in Beverly Hills on Swall Drive in 1925. After five decades in Beverly Hills, the school embarked on another move. Berkeley Hall finally settled onto its current sprawling 66-acre campus along Mulholland Drive in 1980. This serene mountaintop location offers students a unique blend of tranquility and proximity to both the Westside and the San Fernando Valley. Berkeley Hall School today is a place where tradition meets innovation. The campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including an Innovation Lab, a performing arts center, and multiple sports fields, playgrounds, and courts. Visual and performing arts thrive alongside rigorous academics. Athletics, outdoor education, and STEAM programs provide a well-rounded experience for the 262 students who call Berkeley Hall home. With a student-teacher ratio of 8:1, the school provides individualized attention and fosters a close-knit community. Berkeley Hall School maintains a formal dress code, with uniforms required for students in grades 1 through 8. While tuition is approximately $41,000 annually, the school offers financial aid to 23% of its students.
