Amaker once worked for the Post and Courier. He later became a self-employed poet, musician, videographer, and graphic designer. Cali developed a passion for South Carolina’s sea islands after a trip to West Africa. Her paintings illustrate the beauty of Wadmalaw Island. They depict the vanishing Gullah culture.
