It now covers a massive 59.6 square kilometers. A further expansion added 225 square kilometers to its jurisdiction.

Over 26000 corporations from more than 40 countries and regions have invested in BDA. The total investment surpasses $100 billion. Mercedes Benz GE and Bayer are just a few of the over 90 Fortune 500 companies with projects here. Since 1994 BDA has seen impressive growth. Annual GDP growth averaged 30 percent. Industrial output soared by 40 percent yearly. Fiscal revenue increased by an astounding 50 percent annually.
But BDA isn’t just about economic success. It prioritizes sustainable development. It enforces strict standards. These cover input-output ratios energy consumption water consumption and pollutant discharge. BDA is home to Beijing’s only national-level green industrial park. It’s also the only national economic-technological development area chosen as a pilot for the zero-waste city program. The area even boasts the first use of rubber asphalt on city roads in Asia. It covers one million square meters.
