Gazing upon Bayside Uniting Church, one might sense the echoes of diverse congregations uniting under one roof. Bayside Uniting Church stands as a testament to the merging of different faiths and histories. It was born in 1990 from the union of several Uniting Churches. These churches hailed from Wynnum, Manly, and Manly West. They brought with them the traditions of Methodist and Congregational churches. Even worshippers from closed churches in Manly West and Lota found a new home at Bayside Uniting Church. The church’s story doesn’t end with the initial amalgamation. The Uniting church at Lindum continued as a worship center within the new congregation. It embraced members from another former church in Hemmant. While Presbyterian congregations in the area remained independent, some of their members eventually joined Bayside Uniting Church over the years. For a time, the congregation gathered at Moreton Bay College’s Oriel Handley Hall. Then, on November 16, 1991, the church at Wondall Road opened its doors. This marked a new chapter in the life of Bayside Uniting Church. It symbolized the coming together of different communities under a shared faith.
