Originally known as First Baptist Christian School of League City, the school started as a ministry of Bay Area First Baptist Church. By 1978, the school was already flourishing, having grown to 230 students. In 1985, the name officially changed to Bay Area Christian School, a name that has become synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual growth. The school’s popularity continued to soar. By 1992, the demand was so high that waiting lists became the norm. This led to several expansions, including a new gymnasium and field house in 1995, a state-of-the-art elementary building in 2005, and a modern high school building in 2010. Bay Area Christian School boasts an impressive student body of over 900 students, from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade. It draws students from all across the South Houston area. These communities include League City, Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pearland, Dickinson, Alvin, Santa Fe, and beyond. Bay Area Christian School isn’t just focused on academics. The school is accredited by ACTABS and is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Texas Association of Baptist Schools, the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, and the National Alliance of Christian Schools.
