Initially Batu Tiga was an industrial estate. Low-cost housing developments started appearing around 2000. Many mistook it for part of Shah Alam. Previously there were no direct roads connecting it to Subang Jaya. This changed in 2009. A bridge linking USJ to Batu Tiga was built. This greatly improved its strategic location.
Subang Hi-Tech Industrial Park is in Batu Tiga. It’s a major industrial area. Many international and multinational companies have their headquarters there. The area is well-served with amenities. AEON Tesco and Giant Hypermarket are nearby in Shah Alam. Numerous restaurants cafes and food courts are scattered around.
Batu Tiga’s strategic position makes it easily accessible. Major expressways such as the Elite Highway NKVE Federal Highway KESAS Highway and Subang Airport Highway all connect to it. Glenmarie and Shah Alam Stadium are only 3km away. Kuala Lumpur is a mere 25-minute drive.
Public transport is available. The KD10 Batu Tiga Komuter station serves the area. This station caters to the traffic needs of Shah Alam and Klang’s suburban areas. Many foreign workers in the industrial parks use the train. The Batu Tiga toll plaza was a landmark until recently. It was demolished after several fatal accidents occurred. The removal of the toll collection in January 2024 preceded this demolition.
Batu Tiga has evolved from a primarily industrial area into a thriving suburb. Its convenient location excellent transport links and modern amenities are attracting both businesses and residents. The demolition of the toll plaza marks a turning point. It symbolizes Batu Tiga’s continuing transformation and progress. This suburb is truly a hidden gem in the Klang Valley.
