Between 1957 and 1982 over fifteen giant pandas from Baoxing’s Fengtongzhai National Natural Protected Area were gifted to countries worldwide including the United States Spain France Mexico and Japan. This highlights the county’s contribution to global panda conservation.

Baoxing County is a geopolitical crossroads and transportation hub. It sits at the convergence of various cultures and ethnic groups. These include Han Qiang Tibetan Nakhi and Gyalrong Tibetan people. These cultural influences have shaped the county’s history for over 800 years.
