What if I told you that this school, Bangpakokwithayakom School, started its journey in a very unusual place? Not in a classroom, but in a temple! The Bangpakokwithayakom School, right where we are standing, has a deep-rooted connection with Wat Bangpakok. It was the abbot, Phra-kru-sas Sik-ka-kij, who envisioned a school in this district. His dream took shape in 1949, not on these sprawling grounds, but upstairs in the disciplined building of Wat Bangpakok itself. Imagine, the halls of worship doubling as classrooms, the scent of incense mingling with the murmur of students! Can you picture those early days of Bangpakokwithayakom School? Initially, only admitting students for grade 11, the school thrived under its initial name, Mattayom Wat Bangpakok School. But just a couple of years later, a generous act would change the school’s course. The purchase of land, a gift to Wat Bangpakok, and then a transfer of ownership to the Department of General Education paved the way for a new chapter. By 1951, Bangpakokwithayakom School found its permanent home on this very site, a spacious haven of learning spread across 9600 square meters. As you explore the school grounds today, remember that you are walking through history, a testament to the vision of an abbot and the generosity of a community.
