Let’s talk about the Bangkok Metropolitan Council’s history. It was established on December 13 1972. This happened through Declaration No.335 of the Revolution Committee. The first group had 46 councilors. The first meeting was on April 16 1973. They elected a Chairman then. April 16 is now Bangkok Metropolitan Council Day since 2009.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act B.E. 2528 set rules. Each district should have at least one elected member. They serve for four years. In 2014 the National Council for Peace and Order appointed 26 members.
Currently Mr. Nirande Praditkul is Chairman. Mr. Kitti Budsayaplakorn is First Vice Chairman. Gen. Konecharnart Chunnabhata is Second Vice Chairman.
