In 1914, it became Bangbae-ri, Sindong-myeon, Siheung-gun, Gyeonggi-do. This change occurred when the area was confirmed during the Japanese colonial period.
A significant shift occurred in 1963. Bangbae-dong was incorporated into the Seoul Metropolitan Government. This followed the expansion of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s zone. It officially became Bangbae-dong. Today, it remains a vital part of Seoul.
