Welcome to Bang Kruai a district in Nonthaburi province. It’s nestled in central Thailand near the Chao Phraya River. Established in 1904 initially named Bang Yai it was later renamed in 1930. The name Bang Kruai reflects the area’s unique cone-like geographical shape. Kruai means cone in Thai.

The history of Bang Kruai is rich and fascinating. Originally a large district difficult to administer it was split in 1917. The northern part became the minor district Bang Mae Nang. This later became a full district in 1921. The name change to Bang Kruai came later. Bang Mae Nang then received the name Bang Yai.
