Cone-shaped district, that’s what Bang Kruai means in Thai. Bang Kruai Town Municipality welcomes you to a place of history. It is a town within the Nonthaburi province. It is near Bangkok. The town is not just a place. It is a story etched in time.

Bang Kruai’s story begins in 1904. Back then, it was known as Bang Yai. Imagine a vast area difficult to manage. So, in 1917, the northern part was split off. It became Bang Mae Nang. By 1921, Bang Mae Nang was a full district.

Then, in 1930, a change occurred. The district was renamed Bang Kruai. The name reflects its unique geographic shape. Kruai means cone in Thai. Interestingly, Bang Mae Nang then took on the name Bang Yai. This was the original name of Bang Kruai.

Today, Bang Kruai Town Municipality is a vibrant area. It is part of the larger Bang Kruai district. This district is divided into nine sub-districts or tambons. These tambons are further split into villages.

Since 2002, Bang Kruai has been a town. This gives it some self-governing powers. Other areas within the district have gained similar status. Plai Bang became a township in 1999. Sala Klang followed in 2008. Bang Si Thong became a township in 2013.

Bang Kruai is more than just its history. It is also a haven for wildlife. The district is one of the last natural habitats. Here, you can find the Alexandrine and red-breasted parakeets. These parrots live in groups. They reside in large trees at local temples. Visit Wat Suan Yai. Stroll to Wat Utthayan. Discover Wat Ampawan. Explore Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Worawihan. These temples offer sanctuary to these birds.

The Bang Kruai subdistrict itself is small. It covers only 4.15 square kilometers. Yet, it is densely populated. In 2020, it had almost 28,000 residents. The subdistrict is divided into nine villages. The entire area of the subdistrict falls under the Bang Kruai Town Municipality.

Bang Kruai is located in the northern part of the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. It experiences a tropical climate. Expect hot and humid summers. Mild winters offer a slight respite. The district has many temples and historical sites.

Perhaps, Bang Kruai is an ideal location for you. Its numerological values may align with your life path. While no famous people are recorded as born here, Bang Kruai offers something special.

As our tour concludes, remember Bang Kruai. Remember its cone-shaped name. Remember its history and its parakeets. The Bang Kruai Town Municipality is a unique place. It blends history, nature, and community.
