“Schloss Schönhausen” whispers the past. That’s what this building was called in 1880. It was then an excursion pub located outside Berlin’s city gates. This is the Ballhaus Pankow. Today it’s one of Pankow’s oldest and most beautiful buildings.

The Ballhaus Pankow is more than just a building. It’s a living testament to Berlin’s history. Imagine the elegant dances that filled its grand ballroom. It hosted balls and theater performances. The building expanded in 1892 to accommodate more guests. Its beautiful ceiling paintings and stucco elements remain to this day. The building’s stunning architecture is in the English country house style.

The Ballhaus Pankow didn’t escape unscathed. Its history isn’t without trials. During the war all its construction records were lost. After 1933 the building was used in many different ways. It even housed a production site for cookware during the postwar years. By the time of the German reunification the building was in ruins.

Extensive renovations between 1993 and 1995 brought the Ballhaus Pankow back to life. However it was only used sporadically for events. Today it’s a sought-after venue. It can host up to 460 guests. It even boasts a winter garden and a bar. The Ballhaus Pankow is a significant landmark. It stands near the historic Mayakovsky Ring. This impressive building is a testament to perseverance. It offers a glimpse into Berlin’s rich past.

So stand here with me and feel the weight of history beneath your feet. The Ballhaus Pankow has much to tell. From its humble beginnings as a simple pub to its current state as an elegant event space. It mirrors Berlin’s own evolution. A building with a story as vibrant and enduring as the city itself.
