Named for a graceful bird, the Baihe Subdistrict holds more than just a pretty name. Baihe Subdistrict is a place of recent administrative changes. I will tell you a story of its establishment and composition.

In 2014, Baihe Subdistrict was officially established. It was one of four new subdistricts in Qidong County. This administrative change marked a new chapter for the area. Before this, Baihe was part of a larger town.

The subdistrict covers an area of 76.13 square kilometers. That is about 29.39 square miles. In 2014, it had a population of 40,700 people. Baihe’s seat of government is located on Baiyang Road.

The structure of Baihe Subdistrict has evolved. Initially, it had 23 villages and 11 communities. In 2016, a significant amalgamation took place. The number of villages was reduced. After the merger, Baihe had 7 villages and 11 communities.

Let’s explore the names of these subdivisions. The 7 villages are Hehua Xincun Village, Jinxing Village, Luoyun Village, Mingluqiao Village, Paishan Village, Taihe Village and Yanshan Village. Each name carries its own local significance.

The 11 communities also contribute to Baihe’s identity. They are Baihe Community, Baijia Community, Fanfeng Community, Fengxing Community, Huanglong Community, Qianfeng Community, Tangjia Community, Taohong Community, Xiufeng Community, Zhuanchong Community and Zuwan Community. These communities form the social fabric of the subdistrict.

The story of Baihe Subdistrict is one of administrative evolution. From its establishment in 2014 to the amalgamation of 2016, it has transformed. Today, Baihe stands as a testament to China’s evolving administrative landscape. Its 7 villages and 11 communities reflect a vibrant and changing society.
