The Backofen-Riedwiesen cover 150 hectares. Part belongs to Mannheim. Parts are in Brühl and Edingen-Neckarhausen. This area shows the intertwined relationship between cities and nature. The wetlands provide vital ecosystem services. They protect against floods and store carbon.
