Bắc Tân Uyên District was officially established relatively recently on December 29, 2013. The establishment of the district marked a significant change in the local administration. Bắc Tân Uyên District encompasses a substantial area of 154.78 square miles. The district is home to a population of 62,481 people as of 2018. This makes it a less densely populated area compared to some urban centers in Vietnam. The district is divided into ten administrative units. These units include one town, Tân Thành, and nine rural communes. The rural communes are Tân Bình, Bình Mỹ, Tân Lập, Tân Định, Lạc An, Hiếu Liêm, Đất Cuốc, Thường Tân, and Tân Mỹ. Each commune has its own unique characteristics, contributing to the overall identity of Bắc Tân Uyên District.
