Craving some electrifying energy? You’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the Axiata Arena. This isn’t just any indoor venue, it is the largest in Malaysia. The Axiata Arena has a seating capacity of up to 16,000.

Before it was the Axiata Arena, it was known as Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil. It is located within the National Sports Complex. This complex also houses the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. You can find the National Hockey Stadium here too. The National Squash Centre, the National Aquatic Centre and Seri Putra Hall are all here.

Think back to 1998. The Axiata Arena opened its doors. This arena quickly became a hub for sports. It also became a place for major events.

In 2009, the Axiata Arena hosted the ASEAN Para Games. Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister, officially opened the games here. In 2010, the Axiata Arena was chosen for Malaysia’s Independence Day celebration. It was the first time the celebration was held indoors. It was during Ramadan that year.

The Axiata Arena officially rebranded on January 16, 2017. It became the Axiata Arena. This was a partnership between Axiata Group Berhad and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia. The Axiata Arena marked the start of the KL Sports City development.

The Axiata Arena has a rectangular arena. It measures 69 by 25 meters. This allows it to host various sports. These include boxing, badminton and basketball. You can also play volleyball and table tennis here. Judo, handball, wrestling and gymnastics also occur here.

Many remember when the Axiata Arena served a vital role. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it became a large-scale vaccination center. It helped vaccinate residents of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

The Axiata Arena has hosted many memorable events. The 1998 Commonwealth Games held gymnastics competitions here. The Thomas Cup and Uber Cup badminton tournaments took place here in 2000. World Wrestling Entertainment has also held events here.

Many famous artists have performed at the Axiata Arena. Siti Nurhaliza had her first concert here in 1999. International stars like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars have graced this stage. K-pop groups such as EXO and Super Junior have also performed.
